ID Card Security and Durability

Laminates & Overlays

laminatesCombat card counterfeiting, alteration and duplication with Zebra’s TrueColours® secure supplies, such as varnish overlays and laminates. These protective materials prolong card life by preventing image fading and dye-migration and reduce normal wear from handling and frequent card swiping through magnetic stripe readers.

For added security and durability, you can deter card forgery with Zebra’s customizable levels of card security. Various types of holograghic, optically variable inks and other security featured laminates can be designed to make your card design unique and more secure.

Varnish Overlay Ribbons

  • Clean
  • Hologram (Genuine Secure Image)
Laminate Ribbons
  • Carrier based and linerless based laminate, 1.0 mil and 0.6 mil thick
  • Clear laminate (full size, smart card cut out, ½ size for magnetic stripe cards)
  • Hologram laminate (Genuine Secure Image and World Globe Image) full size
Security Featured Laminates

Customizable hologram laminates add a unique security feature that makes cards more tamper-resistant and deters fraudulent reproduction of cards. There are various types of holograms available.
  • OVI takes optically variable inks to make up an image or text within the laminate. It will show various color effects as the image is rotated.
  • Pixel-Grafx hologram takes state-of-the-art computer graphics with traditional holography to produce “pixilated” imagery. These images or patterns are made up of a series of pixels or dots, which are exposed to laser light at multiple angles to achieve maximum brightness even in ordinary (fluorescent) lighting conditions.
  • 2D Hologram is made up of two-dimensional images. The hologram images are assigned different colors and position in one layer. It just has one layer on hologram image, without visual depth.
  • 2D/3D Hologram is made up of multiple two dimensional layers with hologram images visually placed one behind another with visual depth to produce an effect of three-dimensional hologram structure. It has very good visual depth between different layers and shininess on first layer.
